Forecast: Storms tonight, rain Sunday
It’s been another hot September day, and likely the last one for a while. Temperatures have been roughly the same as Friday’s. We’ve now had 133 consecutive days with highs of at least 70 degrees in Des Moines (thanks to the National Weather Service office in Johnston for the graphic below).
FORECAST: Stormy weather pattern taking over for Sunday and early next week
A slow-moving cold front to our west will increase our storm chances Sunday. There will be some dry time Sunday but periods of showers and storms will be possible. The higher storm chances and additional cloud cover will keep highs in the 80s. Scattered showers and a few storms continue into Sunday night.

Sunday will likely be one of the hotter days we have seen over the past week out ahead of a slow-moving front for the start of next week. Scattered showers are expected Monday through Wednesday before some drier and less humid weather moves in for the second half of the week.
