Emergency workers carried out rescue operations on Sunday in the eastern Czech towns of Jesenik and Opava after days of heavy rains caused widespread flooding and forced mass evacuations.

Police pyrotechnicians were called in after a levee along the confluence of the Opava and Odra rivers was breached amid intense flooding in the Czech city of Ostrava.Footage from the Fire and Rescue Service of the Czech Republic shows members of the fire service and the police lowering sandbags toward the damaged embankment.
