Pass-fail grading is crucial for increasing collaboration, well-roundedness, and reducing burnout among future physicians —without compromising performance on national standardized exams.

Simply put, a pass-fail culture ensures that meaningful learning prevails over any grade a student may receive. It is time for Harvard College to follow suit.

Since 2018, Harvard College students have had the option to take one of their four General Education courses on a pass-fail basis. Starting with the Class of 2029, that may no longer be possible.
