Bernie Kosar. His name is synonymous with Cleveland Browns football. The #19 legend of the gridiron is now in the fight of his life waiting on a liver transplant.

Kosar completed the bet “in a show of good will,” the complaint said. The Browns announced on the day of the game that they had fired Kosar from his radio job after learning of the bet.

Kosar filed a lawsuit in April against podcasting company BIGPLAY and co-manager Kendall Myles. Kosar is seeking damages in excess of $850,000 and roughly $25,000 in attorneys’ fees.

Unfortunately, Kosar is considered a team employee in his capacity doing a pregame show. Both players and team personnel are forbidden from engaging in gambling, laying out penalties for doing so.
