The Sacramento Kings unveiled their 2025-26 NBA preseason schedule Monday as the team prepares for its first full season under coach Doug Christie. The Kings will play the first of four preseason games when they host the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 8 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
So far this summer, the Kings have added two young players in Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud in the 2025 NBA Draft to upgrade their depth. They also landed Dennis Schroder in free agency in a sign-and-trade deal with the Detroit Pistons and it appears as though Schroder will be their starting point guard next season.
McDermott, a former lottery pick, enters his 12th NBA season. He played a limited role for the Kings last season, getting into just 42 games and averaging just more than eight minutes in those games, while averaging 3.5 points a night. His value comes as a shooter, as he hit 43.6% of his 3-pointers last season.
The Heat didn't re-sign Isaiah Stevens, but that's now opened the door for Stevens and Nique Clifford to team up with the Sacramento Kings.
Here are three remaining free agents the Kings could target this summer. Kuminga has been linked to the Kings over the past few weeks, though it was reported that the Golden State Warriors denied the Kings’ sign-and-trade offer for him.
The Kings were led by Nique Clifford, who had a third straight game impacting the game all over the court. He finished the night with a game-high 19 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and a block on a hyper-efficient 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the field, and a perfect 3-of-3 from three, and 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
