“That was really unfortunate,” Gunn continued. “So Peter and I [thought] the right thing to do was to sit down with [Cavill] and talk to him. And we sat down and we talked to him. He was an absolute gentleman, a great guy about it. He said, ‘The only thing I ask is that I’m able to reveal it myself as opposed to it coming from you guys.'”

While some might be taken aback by that approach, Corenswet appreciated that Gunn was willing to say what he wanted out loud "without too much politeness and without beating around the bush." "If I'm no good, tell me I'm no good, and then let's work together to make me good," he added.

James Gunn's Superman, starring David Coresnwet as the Man of Steel feels to grounded to soar. Gunn's version of the caped superhero is too introspective and spends more time licking his wounds and beliefs rather than fighting the bad guys and simply being heroid.
