Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson hit his maiden hundred in the Duleep Trophy first-class competition, getting to the landmark in just 92 balls for India D against India B on Friday, September 20. It was Samson's 11th first-class hundred as he made a mark in red-ball cricket at the start of a long domestic season.

Samson’s innings was a masterclass in counter-attacking cricket, featuring 11 boundaries and three soaring sixes that captivated fans and left bowlers scrambling.

As per ESPNcricinfo, playing his 64th First-Class match, Samson has raced past 3,700 runs at an average of 38-plus (50s: 16, 100s: 11). He didn't play in round 1 of the Duleep Trophy 2024. Samson managed scores worth 40 and 5 in the second-round match. Samson hasn't played Test cricket for India. He has appeared in 16 ODIs and 30 T20Is.

Fans had expected him to break the jinx in the Duleep Trophy 2024 but did not get a chance in the first round. He got a chance in the India A vs India D game, where it was an abysmal show of 5 runs in the first innings and 40 runs in the second. In the third and final round of Duleep Trophy, he got one last chance to shine through.
